The Association owns 2.5 acres of land at 373 Bracken Ridge Road in Bracken Ridge, and a Development Approval (DA) application is currently pending in Planning and Environment Court. In April 2019, the Society gained DA approval to construct a multipurpose community centre and place of worship. An adjacent neighbour at 367 Bracken Ridge Road appealed the judgement. The parties have reached an agreement on the appeal, and the Association is waiting for the judgement to be sealed and the modified DA to be granted. On February 3, 2022, the court will hear the case. See the attached blueprints for more information on the structures and layout.
When finished, the complex will include a new temple for Hindu devotees with seating for approximately 400 people. The HSQ Cultural and Education Centre will be opened in the temple complex for the benefit of its members, particularly the younger Hindu generation. At the temple compound, a separate dining hall is available for private hire for weddings and poojas. The Community Hall, a multifunctional hall with a seating capacity of 750, is occasionally available for rental by members of the organisation or the general public for weddings and other major events.
Once building plans have been drawn and operational works have been applied for, full details about the buildings will be posted on the website.
Please see the Project Layout Specifications for more information.
A 2.5-acre plot of land near Bracken Ridge was purchased for $330,000 in December 2002. The land is mortgage-free, and the organisation is planning to start building a multipurpose community hall and mandir.
Traditional, custom-based weddings and other private poojas can definitely generally be held at the Gayatri Mandir, which can specifically, and for the most part, be rented for special occasions, which are generally quite significant.
The Hindi language, art, and culture school launched in February 2020. Classes are held on Sundays from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Except school holidays). The children are taught Hindi as well as how to incorporate Hindu scriptures into their daily lives.
